Scotia Partners, LLC is an SEC Registered Investment Advisor founded in 2006 by its owner and Principal, Clifford J. Montgomery, CFA. The company name is reflective of Cliff’s family heritage, which is Scottish. The family motto, “Garde Bien,” which means “Watch Well” serves as a permanent reminder of the approach Scotia takes to managing money.

Cliff graduated from Messiah College in 1997 with a B.S. in Accounting and completed the coursework for his B.S. in Environmental Science the following year.

After working at the trading desk of a large investment advisory firm for a few years, Cliff joined a company that provides investment research and reporting on actively managed investment strategies. While there, he completed the examinations for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and was granted his Charter in September of 2005. It was during his work at the research firm that he had the opportunity to develop and test his own ideas about combining market exposure with sophisticated risk management techniques. Using the extensive computer processing resources of the research company, Cliff built strategies, tested them rigorously and then implemented them using real money in actual trading accounts. The lessons learned and the money made and lost in this testing became the crucible in which his ideas were formed and molded into the investment strategies Scotia uses today for its clients.

Managing assets directly for a handful of clients, Scotia also serves the investing public by licensing its market research to a handful of highly regarded Investment Advisory firms. Scotia manages in excess of $150,000,000 in assets through direct advisory, sub-advisory, and license relationships. 

Scotia’s approach to investment management is different than many others.  Scotia develops investment strategies designed to take advantage of market conditions that provide a statistical probability of success which can be implemented in many investment vehicles across several markets.
